
A private hire driver has had his licence revoked after he refused to pick up a passenger accompanied by an assistance dog in Milton Keynes.
Fairas Musthafa was prosecuted after the incident at Benbow Court in Shenley Church End, where Milton Keynes City Council found he had "driven past the passenger and made no attempt to pick her up."
Following the court case, West Northamptonshire Council confirmed that Mr. Musthafa’s licence was revoked following a licensing meeting.
He now has 21 days from December 11 to appeal the decision to Milton Keynes Magistrates' Court.
Mr. Musthafa was found guilty of two breaches of the Equality Act 2010.
Magistrates fined him £405 for the first breach and ordered him to pay a victim surcharge of £162 and costs of £600, totalling £1,367.
For the second breach, he was ordered to pay £200 in compensation to the victim.
Under the Equality Act 2010, it is an offence for private hire or hackney carriage drivers to refuse passengers with assistance dogs unless they have a valid medical exemption.

The incident occurred at approximately 10.18pm on Thursday, December 11, 2025, on Somerford Road.
