Hello everyone, here is a short update on the main points from my weekend's work.
It's important to me that I tell you what I do - after all, you do help pay my wages !
On Friday and Saturday evening I was working with Bristol Council Parking Officers dealing with taxi rank offences. 29 tickets were issued to PHV's, mopeds, members of the public and a minibus parked illegally on ranks in Central Bristol.
Most of the issues with licensed vehicles I found over the weekend involved lights out and not displaying badges but it's worth mentioning that it's that time of year that extra work is needed to keep plates clean and visible.
My time dealing with taxis on Satuday was a bit shorter due to various disorders and assaults in City Centre where I had to go back to "normal" policing duties for a while.
One of our drivers spotted a suspected unlicensed taxi and contacted me with the vehicle details and direction it left.
I was able to stop the vehicle shortly afterwards and found the driver was acting as an unlicensed driver/vehicle/Operator. I also found he was Touting (rather than just illegally plying).
The outcome won't be known yet, but is likely to be 6 points for No Insurance and a fine.
I also spotted a vehicle on an airport run which I suspected was unlicensed. It was a genuine family trip, but I did find the driver was uninsured so that will be 6 DVLA points and £300.
I also managed to squeeze in a meeting at 5am with a BTP Sergeant to discuss issues at our local train stations just before going off duty.
