
A late-night taxi ride ended in flames over the weekend when a vehicle caught fire on the A52 near Wainfleet, completely destroying the vehicle.
Emergency crews from Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue were alerted to the blaze on the Wainfleet bypass at 11:25 pm on Sunday.
Firefighters rushing from the Skegness Fire Station deployed a hose reel jet and used breathing apparatus to successfully extinguish the roaring fire.
The vehicle involved was a white Ford hybrid taxi van. Fortunately, the driver had just completed a drop-off before the fire broke out.
Witness Blake Young, who captured an image of the scene, told Lincolnshire World that "the taxi had just dropped customers off."
The dramatic incident took place on a stretch of road near the railway crossing, a common route for motorists leaving Skegness toward Wainfleet.
Officials confirmed that no injuries were reported, and a spokesperson for Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue later identified the cause of the fire as an "engine fault."
