Four taxi licences were suspended and one driver was arrested during a major road safety and licensing crackdown in Bradford.
The multi-agency operation took place on Thursday, 21 May, on Great Horton Road, targeting vehicle compliance, road safety, licensing rules, and environmental crime.
The day of action brought together several enforcement bodies, including the Bradford Council Environmental Enforcement team, West Yorkshire Police, the Bradford South Neighbourhood Policing Team, Operation Steerside, Taxi Licensing, and the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA).
During the sting, Bradford Council Taxi Enforcement inspected 20 vehicles, suspending four taxis and identifying five vehicles with defects that had to be fixed.
The DVSA inspected eight vehicles, issuing two immediate ban notices for serious faults including tyres below the legal limit, broken lights, emissions problems, and dangerous body parts.
Meanwhile, West Yorkshire Police made one arrest for driving over the prescribed limit (OPL) and seized a van for operating without insurance or tax.
Police also issued multiple fixed penalty notices to a van driving with four passengers improperly riding in the back, and caught another vehicle driving without a valid MOT.
Additionally, the Council’s Environmental Enforcement team checked 16 vehicles and issued two notices regarding waste disposal regulations.
Authorities emphasised that these joint efforts are vital for protecting local residents.
An Environmental Enforcement team spokesman praised the collaboration, stating: "These joint operations help keep our roads safe, tackle environmental crime, and ensure vehicles operating within our communities are compliant with the law."
