MANCHESTER AIRPORT TRAFFIC CHAOS PROMPTS PH FIRM TO TELL CUSTOMERS 'USE LIVERPOOL INSTEAD'

Severe traffic delays at Manchester Airport's Terminal 2 have led a local private hire company to advise customers to use Liverpool instead.

Nolan's Airport Transport, which operates in Bury, warned travellers of severe congestion in the drop-off and pick-up zone, with drivers facing queues of up to 45 minutes just to enter the terminal.

The company stated: "Something has gone very wrong with the area around T2, where 90 per cent of all passengers must now be dropped off or picked up.

"It is taking our drivers almost 30-45 minutes in the queue on the road to enter T2 west, which is utter chaos inside. We have nowhere to wait nearby... Or use Liverpool."

Travellers echoed these frustrations, describing the pick-up system as an "absolute shambles" and a "nightmare," while praising Liverpool John Lennon Airport as an "absolute breeze."

However, some noted that Liverpool is not a practical alternative for long-haul passengers flying to destinations outside of Europe, such as the USA, China, India, and Dubai.

Manchester Airport responded by stating it is conducting an "extensive review" of the road network.

A spokesperson explained that September brought traffic issues due to increased local traffic and lower passenger-to-vehicle ratios compared to the summer.

In the short term, the airport has deployed extra traffic marshals and is working with Transport for Greater Manchester to adjust local traffic light timings.
