GLASGOW PRIVATE HIRE DRIVER SUSPENDED AFTER ACCUSATION OF RECORDING PASSENGERS

A Glasgow private hire driver has been handed a six-week licence suspension after some terrified passengers abandoned their evening plans over claims he recorded them.

Abdiqadir Mohamed Nur faced Glasgow City Council’s licensing and regulatory committee at John Street following a complaint to the local authority’s taxi and private hire enforcement unit.

The committee heard that Nur “kept looking” at passengers and “looked angry”, creating an atmosphere that left them feeling deeply “uncomfortable”.

Passengers spotted him touching his mobile phone and alleged he was actively “recording them”.

The ordeal left the travellers “terrified”, prompting some to change their destination and skip their planned venues.

Nur denied recording anyone inside his vehicle.

Despite his denial, councillors ruled to uphold the complaint and imposed a six-week suspension on his private hire car driver licence.
