A dangerous sexual predator who targeted lone women in Leeds has been handed an extended prison sentence of 15-and-a-half years.
Rashid Boachie, 44, was caught after CCTV footage showed him approaching a woman during a night out in August last year. He led the victim to an alleyway behind a Travelodge and sexually assaulted her, but he fled the scene when a hotel worker heard the woman’s shouts and stepped in to help.
Following his arrest, DNA samples linked Boachie to a separate rape in Beeston from four years earlier.
In that case, a woman had mistakenly entered his car believing it was a taxi. Boachie drove her to an empty car park where the attack took place.
During the ordeal, the victim managed to record a desperate video message in which she could be heard saying “help me.”
Police believe there may be other victims who have not yet come forward.
Detective Inspector Jodie Hayes of West Yorkshire Police said: “He is a dangerous sexual predator who has deliberately preyed on heavily intoxicated, vulnerable women who have become separated from their friends and will hopefully now be behind bars for a long time.”
She also praised the public for their help in identifying the attacker through CCTV images, adding: “There were four years between these offences and there is potential that Boachie has committed other crimes during that time. If anyone has been a victim of an offence, we would urge them to report it.”
