
Freenow by Lyft, is announcing it will be hosting a driver recognition event to celebrate drivers who have provided outstanding service to passengers in 2025 and gone above and beyond for their communities.
There will be three types of awards:
• Driver of the year - an award attributed to the black cab driver with the highest trip volume, exceptional customer satisfaction and unwavering consistency.
• Legacy driver - this award recognises black cab drivers who have been with Freenow for the longest period of time.
• Driver’s driver - black cab drivers can nominate themselves or other colleagues for this award which aims to celebrate outstanding contributions to the wider community - community heroes.
Nominations for the recognition event are now open and will close on the 4 February. All black cab drivers can submit their applications by replying to the call for entries distributed via email.
The event, hosted by Freenow by Lyft, will take place on the 12 February, and winning black cab drivers will be presented with a certificate and a prize in recognition for their outstanding contribution as drivers and members of the community.

Previous nominations have recognised black cab drivers for delivering food parcels to the vulnerable, giving medical attention to those in need, helping rough sleepers with free rides to shelters and working with Freenow by Lyft to provide vaccines to elderly people.

The proposal is designed to modernise the licensing system, reduce duplication, and improve efficiency while maintaining all required safety, knowledge, and training standards.
