A Macclesfield taxi firm and Cheshire Police are calling for public assistance after a hit-and-run collision on Tuesday night, 20 January, left a passenger hospitalised and a driver "extremely shaken."
The incident occurred between 9:45 pm and 10:00 pm on January 20 at the junction of Moss Lane and Congleton Road. Silvertown Taxis, the Macclesfield-based firm involved, reported that the collision caused significant distress to their staff and customer.
A spokesperson for Silvertown Taxis highlighted the severity of the impact, stating: "The passenger was taken to hospital and remained there throughout the night, and our driver is extremely shaken and distressed by what has been a deeply upsetting incident."
The firm is urging anyone with visual evidence or descriptions of the fleeing vehicle to contact them.
"If you were in the area at the time and witnessed the collision, saw a vehicle leaving the scene, or have dashcam or CCTV footage... we would be very grateful if you could come forward," the spokesperson said, adding that "even a partial description of the vehicle could be hugely important."
The appeal emphasised the importance of local cooperation: "Any information, no matter how small, could help bring clarity and support to those affected... Your help could make a real difference."
Cheshire Police confirmed they attended the scene shortly after 10:10 pm. A force spokesperson stated: "Police attended and there had been a collision between two cars, one of which had failed to stop at the scene.
"Enquiries are ongoing to trace the driver of the second vehicle."
