NEW LICENSING FEES ANNOUNCED FOR FOREST OF DEAN TAXI AND PRIVATE HIRE TRADE

Forest of Dean District Council has unveiled a new price list for taxi and private hire licences, covering drivers, vehicles, and operators.

The updated charges are scheduled to take effect following a 24-day consultation period, during which the public and trade members can submit objections.

Under the new structure, a fresh licence for a hackney carriage or private hire driver will cost £326, while those looking to renew will be charged £240.

The council has also revised costs for knowledge tests, badge replacements, and licence transfers.

Vehicle fees have seen a similar adjustment, with new hackney carriage plates priced at £334 and private hire vehicles at £326.

Operators have also been impacted, with a five-year licence now costing £522, or £131 for a single-year option.

The council explained that these price hikes are essential to stay on top of the money needed to run the service, stating the changes are “necessary to cover administrative and compliance costs.”

Anyone who wants to challenge the new fees must contact the council's Licensing team within 28 days of the official notice.
