TEENAGE BOY INJURED AFTER YOUTHS PELTING TAXIS WITH BRICKS AND STONES

A teenager has suffered serious facial injuries after the taxi he was travelling in was struck by a "large brick or a stone" in Middlesbrough.

The incident occurred on Marton Road at approximately 7:30 pm on Sunday, March 1, when a group of children began throwing objects at passing traffic.

According to Cleveland Police, the projectiles caused extensive damage to several vehicles.

In this specific attack, the taxi's rear window was shattered, and the boy was struck on the bridge of his nose. The teenager required hospital treatment for his injuries but has since been released to recover at home.

Authorities are now calling on families to intervene and warn children about the severe risks of such actions.

A police spokesperson emphasised that these acts go far beyond minor mischief, stating: "We would therefore ask parents and carers to educate their children on the damage and consequences of throwing stones which is not just 'messing around' or anti-social behaviour but can cause serious injury as well as costly damage to vehicles."
