A 76-year-old man accused of the fatal shooting of a Tipton taxi driver nearly two decades ago has had his first court appearance adjourned.
David Harrison, of Bilston, is charged with the murder of Harun Khan, a 39-year-old father-of-four who was killed outside his home in March 2008.
The case, which remained unsolved for 18 years, reached a milestone yesterday as Harrison was due to appear at Dudley Magistrates’ Court.
The prosecution alleges that Harrison was responsible for the "fatal shooting" of Mr. Khan, who was attacked outside his residence in Tudor Street, Tipton, at 9.25pm on March 3, 2008.
Emergency services rushed Mr. Khan to a nearby hospital, but he was "pronounced dead a short time later," leaving behind a grieving family and a mystery that would last nearly twenty years.
Beyond the murder charge, Harrison faces several other serious counts related to a separate incident in December 2007:
Wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm involving a 27-year-old man in Farthings Lane, Dudley.
Two counts of possessing a firearm.
The proceedings have been temporarily delayed, with the court adjourning the hearing to a later date.
