THREE PENDLE TAXIS BANNED FROM ROADS AFTER SAFETY FAILURES, 21 OTHERS PASSED CHECKS

Three Pendle taxis were pulled off the road following safety checks earlier this month.

Local officers, the OP Prosper Partnership Team, Taxi Licensing, and the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency teamed up to check that vehicles met safety and compliance standards.

Out of 24 inspected taxis, 21 passed their checks.

However, three vehicles failed due to dangerous issues, including a fuel leak, a tyre below the legal limit, and tyres severely lacking required pressure. The DVSA immediately prohibited all three from being used.

A force spokesperson said: "These joint operations are an important part of keeping passengers, drivers and other road users safe.

We will continue to work together where appropriate to identify vehicles that may pose a risk and take action when necessary."
