PROFESSIONAL DRIVER IS A PHRASE WHICH IS HALF THE TIME ATTACHED TO THE WRONG THINGS

•  A professional driver isn't defined by a Mercedes

•  A professional driver isn't defined by a suit

•  A professional driver isn't defined by a nice business card

Professionalism is the basics, done properly — day in, day out.

•  It's turning up on time because reliability matters more than trim level

•  It's keeping your car clean because passengers notice effort, not badge

•  It's communicating clearly with both your customer and your office, and managing expectations accordingly

•  It's understanding that attitude and consistency matter more than anything else

I've seen drivers in modest, well-kept cars offer far higher standards of service than “chauffeurs” in £100k vehicles — purely because professionalism is a behaviour, not a purchase. And passengers remember this behaviour.

They remember the feeling of being safe, respected, and looked after. They remember the clean car that smells fresh but not overpowering, the clear and regular communication, and the driver who delivered exactly what was promised.

These are the things that deliver repeat business to your company. These are the things that grow your business's reputation and separate drivers from professional drivers.

 Professionalism isn't in the image — it's all about the mindset. Although I fully expect some pushback from those in the industry who think it’s a Black Mercedes or nothing...
