Thames Valley Police is investigating an alleged assault by a taxi driver that occurred on Cowley Road in Oxford around 12:37 am on October 8.

A report was made to the police that the alleged assault left a man with facial injuries and caused damage to his motorbike.

It is understood that the taxi driver involved has a licence approved by Oxford City Council.

A spokesperson for the police force said: “We received a report around 12.37am of an assault in Cowley Road in Oxford. No arrests have been made and our investigation is ongoing."

Oxford City Council confirmed they "have not received any notification regarding this incident," but added that if details are provided, they "will follow the usual compliance process to ensure public safety."

The council also maintains a "joint operating framework with Thames Valley Police to ensure that the necessary information is shared in support of any ongoing police investigation."

Police are asking anyone with information to contact them, quoting reference 43250512907.
