A private hire vehicle driver in Blackburn recounted the moment a tree came crashing down onto his car during heavy wind and rain on the afternoon of Friday, October 3.
The driver, who had just parked up on Hollin Bridge Street to drop off a passenger, described the close call: “I was in the car and I was dropping the customer off... I moved the car forward and then it happened.”
The PHV sustained extensive damage to the rear and top, but the cabbie noted that he and his passenger were “very lucky the top bit came down,” as the main trunk narrowly missed the vehicle.
