STOURBRIDGE TAXI DRIVER FINED FOR FLY TIPPING

A taxi driver in Stourbridge has been fined £200 after being caught repeatedly dumping "unhygienic" waste, including vomit-soaked paper towels, on King Street.

The driver, who Dudley Council has not named for legal reasons, was observed "mucking out" his taxi on early Saturday and Sunday mornings in June.

The Stourbridge Lion campaign team, alerted by concerned residents, gathered evidence, including a receipt left at the scene, which was then submitted to Dudley Council's environmental health and taxi committee. This evidence led to the driver being issued a fixed penalty notice.

David Sheppard, a Stourbridge Lion member and former councillor, expressed satisfaction with the outcome, stating: "I am glad that the culprit has been identified and punished - thanks to eagle-eyed residents.

"There is just no way we should tolerate this kind of disgusting behaviour."

Councillor Damian Corfield, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, emphasised the council's commitment to holding offenders accountable.

"Not only are these activities illegal, but also leave hard-working Dudley taxpayers to foot the bill for clearing up the rubbish," he said.

The Stourbridge Lion team confirmed the driver has paid the fine, and they hope it will deter further fly-tipping.
