These tables concentrate on operator licence fees. England and Wales have a different system of criteria for their licensing system than Scotland therefor the table data will differ.
How does your council compare?
Each district council in England and Wales uses different criteria for setting fees for a private hire operator licence. They also charge for licences over varying numbers of years.
1. Most councils charge for either one, three or five years for their licence and we have listed prices for five years as this is now the legislated period under the Deregulation Act 2015. Where there is an asterisk, alternative pricing is optional for one or three years (see the respective council for a complete list).
2. Councils either charge a fixed fee irrespective of the number of vehicles on an operator’s circuit, or a variable price dependent on size or, in some cases, an initial application fee (Orig.) and then an annual renewal fee (Renew.).
