A South Tyneside taxi boss has given his passengers the chance to sing their hearts out.
The Chronicle reports that Simon Oliver, 38, offers to record videos similar to the celebrity singalongs on James Corden’s chat show in America.
The Green Dot Taxis ‘karaoke cab’ has been a smash hit with people eager to perform before the camera. Simon and his daughter Jasmine, nine, sang along to the soundtrack from the Disney film Frozen. This was what convinced the father-of-four to open the offer up to everyone.
He said: “She enjoyed herself so much, it just seemed like an obvious idea to try it with my passengers. Now, it’s unbelievable how many people we get asking if they can hire the ‘karaoke cab’. People just love it - they can’t seem to get enough of it.”
Famous faces to perform for Carpool Karaoke, which started on The Late Late Show with James Corden, include Adele, Ed Sheeran and One Direction.
Green Dot, which has been running since 2013, serves the Boldon, Cleadon and Whitburn areas so you know where to go if you want to join in.
You can see all of the ‘karaoke cab’ videos on the Green Dot Taxis Facebook page.
Some of the singalongs have racked up thousands of views online.
Simon said: “It’s amazing how it’s really taken off, people love to watch themselves and people they know online.”
