How 24 hours makes a difference in this industry! In light of Transport for London’s decision not to renew Uber London Ltd’s private hire operator licence, showing that this technology company is not infallible, minicabit and iCabbi are collaborating to enable iCabbi fleets to service minicabit’s online bookings, given that the opportunity to lead the online cab booking market is wide open.
This could well impact on the profile of the industry – and marketing opportunities countrywide, as set out in this article.
minicabit has continued to experience rapid growth in the three years since it became the first app to win investment offers on BBC TV’s Dragons’ Den. The UK wide online intermediary for operators has seen the average fare booked on its platform rise from over £40 to £50 over the summer. As the official cab booking platform for major travel and leisure brands such as Heathrow Airport, Expedia, Visit Britain, Ascot and Big Yellow Storage, customers around the UK are turning to minicabit’s website and app for a diverse mix of bookings, from airport transfers, out of town trips to local executive car work.
This growth in bookings is spurring many cab operators in its network to push for integration with their dispatch systems, so they can better cope operationally with man-
aging its volumes. Responding to this demand, minicabit is now enhancing its platform accordingly, the first to integrate being iCabbi next month.
Amer Hasan, CEO of minicabit, commented: “Our platform has always empowered cab fleets of all shapes and sizes UK wide to gain online bookings via our portal, regardless of their technical capabilities. If minicabit integrating with dispatch systems helps operators work more efficiently, that’s an approach we’re happy to support. In this fast changing industry, collaboration is key and so it’s great to partner with an advanced dispatch system such as iCabbi, whose open platform enabled us to launch this capability so quickly.”
Niall Prenty, Business Development Director, iCabbi, said: “We share minicabit’s mission to help cab operators participate in the mass market shift to online booking. With our open API approach, we recognise the importance of providing a seamless integration for our partners so that our clients can provide a great end to end customer experience. Making it easier for our clients UK wide to access minicabit bookings is a further step towards this goal.”
Already covering 300 UK towns and cities, minicabit is also on the lookout for more private hire operators particularly to service the surge in demand for airport transfers this Christmas, as well as from new partnerships.
