This is the horrifying moment a speeding car smashed into the side of a taxi leaving the driver fighting for his life.
CCTV footage obtained by the Birmingham Mail shows the seconds leading up to and after the collision that left the taxi driver suspended in the air for nearly an hour.
A blue hatchback can be seen travelling at speed towards a give way marking and failing to stop for the Hackney Carriage.
At the moment of impact, the taxi's windows smash and it is forced into a neighbouring garden wall.
The taxi then nearly rolls onto it's side, but becomes trap-ped on top of the blue car that had spun around.
West Midlands Police arrested the 17-year-old driver, who pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving in May. Footage has just emerged of the impact as police revealed that the driver was jailed.
He was sentenced to ten months in a youth offenders’ institute, as well as being banned from driving for 29 months.
He will also have to sit an extended driving test when the ban is lifted.
The incident took place on September 13 last year at the junction of St Lukes Road and Beacons Road in Holbrooks, Coventry.
The taxi driver sustained serious head, arm and leg injuries and required anaesthetising at the scene.
According to paramedics the driver was knocked unconscious by the force of the impact.
Residents in the area say that since the accident, there have been two more at the junction.
Most recently another car was pushed into the same wall causing extensive damage just after it was rebuilt.
